Careers

As demand continues to grow across the sectors we work in, we’re expanding our team and currently have several exciting vacancies across different levels of experience. Whether you’re just starting out or you’re an experienced planner looking for your next challenge, we’d love to hear from you.

The roles we are actively recruiting are as follows:

Specialist Retail Planner

Our Retail Team is looking for an experienced planner to strengthen our coverage within this Sector. We’re open-minded on the level of experience you bring, but you’ll need to be confident working with Retail Impact Assessments (RIAs) and Sequential Tests, along with strong analytical and report-writing skills. You’ll be involved in some genuinely interesting and technically challenging work, advising on major retail and mixed-use schemes across the country.

Associate / Senior Associate

Our Logistics and Employment Team is seeking a highly experienced Associate or Senior Associate Planner (or equivalent) to manage and lead the submission of large-scale planning applications for high-profile, international clients. You’ll need a strong track record of managing major commercial and/or infrastructure applications from inception through to submission and determination, including confident client relationship management and leadership of multi-disciplinary consultant teams. This is a great opportunity for someone ready to take real ownership of significant projects.

Planner / Senior Planner

We’re looking for an Assistant Planner to Senior Planner (roughly 2–6 years’ experience) to support a varied caseload spanning commercial, leisure, residential and heritage projects across the breadth of the UK. Ideally you’ll have experience in a comparable consultancy setting, and either hold chartered status or be actively working towards it. This role offers excellent exposure to a wide range of project types and sectors.

Graduate Planner

We’re also looking for an enthusiastic and talented graduate planner to take their first steps in a planning career with us. You’ll need to have completed, or be about to complete, an RTPI-accredited course in Town Planning. You’ll be supported and mentored as you build your skills and experience across a broad range of live projects. There is significant prospect for growth within Firstplan, with many of our Directors and Senior Associates having started their career as Graduates at Firstplan.

If any of these roles sound like a good fit, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your CV (2 pages maximum) along with a cover letter or email to info@firstplan.co.uk
